How To Extend The Android Device Battery Life
Posted on 11:40 PM by Neha Aggarwal
If your battery keeps running out, here's how to make your phone or tablet run for days on a single charge.
Android mobiles may be wonderful portable powerhouse that put a huge choice of apps and tools in your pocket, but all that computing can take its toll on their battery life. Checking your email, making calls, playing games and browsing the internet all use up valuable power, and even just having the mobile or tablet on standby means that the battery is slowly draining.
Fortunately, Android comes with built-in settings that can be toggled to preserve battery life, and which can be customized to particular scenarios. Going for a long walk? Then turn off everything but GPS to track your route via Endomondo. About to go to bed? Turn off sync, so you're not woken by the inevitable 2a, Group-on email. There are many other settings, too, and here we'll show you how to make the most of them.
Extend Your Battery Life
1. Power Control : Android's build in power control widget is the first step to more better life. It's included with all version of Android, and it enables you to turn settings on or off. To get it, long-press on the home screen, then choose 'Widgets' followed by 'Power Control'. You need a long, clear space on your home screen to install it.
2. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth : To the left of the Power Control strip you'll see the Wi-fi icon turn this off when you're away from a Wi-fi hotspot and you'll save a huge amount of power. We also need to think about Bluetooth, which wireless connects to computers, car stereos and speakers. Turn it off you're not using it.
3. GPS and Brightness : GPS is handy when you want to use Google Maps and location services. But it uses a lot of power and should turned off when not in use. Reducing your screen's brightness stops your display draining the battery, and some mobiles can set the brightness automatically to suit the ambient lighting.
4. Sync : Sync means that the device constantly contacts Google's servers to download new emails, contact, calendar entries and other background information. It uses a lot of power and you can safely turn it off for a while - anything that isn't downloaded will appears on your phone when it's turned back on.
5. 2G Networks : 2G networks are noticeable slower than 3G, but 3G uses more power. You can switch to a 2G network by choosing 'Settings' then 'Wireless and networks' followed by 'Mobile network'. Check the box marked 'Use only 2G network' to activate it. You'll still be able to make calls and send texts.
6. JuiceDefender : JuiceDefender is a handy app that switches off certain settings when they're not in use. Download it from here and install it, then run it and choose 'Enabled under Status'. Deactivate the app if you're downloading a lot of data, because it might stop connectivity when your phone switches to standby.
7. Battery Use : To find out exactly what's eating your battery, chose 'Settings', then 'About Phone' and 'Battery Use'. Here you'll see a list of the applications and tools that are using the most power. Some of these functions can be selected to forced to stop. Which will save you a little more precious power in the future.
8. Got the power : Next time your device is running low on power, or there's nowhere available to plug in your charger, you'll know exactly what you can turn on and off to make the battery last a little longer. The above tips are also handy for other situation, such as when you go away on holiday and want to avoid using too much data.

Four Ways To Get Free Kindle eBooks
Posted on 2:40 AM by Neha Aggarwal
Kindle eBook readers have revolutionized the way that people read. Although a lot of traditionalist were initially opposed to doing away with the necessity for actual physical books, it has come to be more accepted and people now recognized and appreciate the convenience it affords to avoid readers. Not only can you take a number of books with you when you're out and about, you also save a lot of space and can accumulate a much larger library than you may have been able to otherwise.
However, growing your eBook library can be a little bit pricey. Many eBooks cost around $10 or more each. This means that even if you only read one book per week, you'll still be shelling out around $520 a year. And a lot of people who enjoy reading enough to own a kindle could read quite a few more books than just one a week. So how can you satisfy your bookishness without going bankrupt? Here are a few ways you can find good quality eBooks for free.
1. Project Gutenberg
This is my favorite go-to source for free eBooks. The Project Gutenberg website is one of the best places to find older books whose copyrights have already expired. This is made possible by volunteers who usually transcribe the books from their own hard copies. Although it isn't guaranteed that you'll find a book on this website just because it's copyrights have expired (the titles available depend on what has been transcribed and submitted so far) and you can't find newer books here, it is still a great source for most of the classics and many other books that you may not have heard of.
2. Amazon Kindle Lending Club
This is a newer development for Amazon and it's great for when you are looking for newer titles. It is a simple way to connect readers to other readers who may have books that they would like to exchange for a short time. You simply list what titles you have and also what titles you are looking for and the program will match you with someone else who has a title you want and wants a title you have. The only draw back is that you are only allowed to lend out each book you own once; that's right - just one time. This means that you can't go on lending unlimited and never buy another eBook. But the good thing is that, unlike normal lending situations, your rights to the book are restored to you after 14 days, so you never lose a book to "that friend" who " borrowed" it.
3. Free Kindle eBooks on Amazon
Aside from the lending club, you can find free eBooks by simply searching for them in the Amazon section for kindle eBooks. Simply sort the results by price so that it shows the lowest priced books first. You'll see quite a number of titles that show up as costing exactly zero dollars and zero cents. Pretty neat! Although you probably won't find the latest best seller among these titles, there are some pretty good how-to's and self-help books, as well as quite a few novels.
4. Bookyards.com
Bookyards.com is a little like project Gutenberg, but it relies more on outside links to books or materials rather than hand typed copies of books submitted by volunteers. The great thing about this site are the easy to search categories. You can find novels, educational books, sheet music; the works! The only problem is that some of the links to books that are located off-site may not be working anymore. This is not too common, however and there is still a wealth of free reading material you can find here that has been gleaned from all over the web.
These are just a few options for finding free kindle eBooks. You might still like to splurge on a few titles that aren't yet available for free that you really want, but looking for book titles through these means, first, can help you save a lot of money.

Funny Lengthy Jokes

"I guess I just woke up this morning and decided.. I didn't want to be chicken anymore" |
1. A bulky boy went to a mango grove with his friends to steal mangoes, because they were convinced that stolen mangoes taste better. All of a sudden, the watchman came out of blue chasing the boys with a rod. Everybody ran helter skelter except our hero as he could not run carrying his own weight. Result: He was caught.
The watchman asked the boy to take him to his father. The boy was trembling and said "No". The watchman asked him to take him to his house but the boy again refused. Then finally, the watchman asked him to show his father atleast from a distance. The boy agreed and showed his father who was plucking mangoes on the next tree.
2. I joined a new office. The Branch Manager told a few boring jokes but to my surprise, all my colleagues laughed.
After coming out of the cabin, I pulled out my colleague and asked him as to why they were laughing for useless jokes. He replied, "if you don't laugh, he will think that we have not understood the joke and repeat the same joke again and again!"
3. A fat Officer went to a consultancy for reducing his weight. He was asked to go to a room with an advice that if he could chase a young beautiful girl and touch her, he could marry her.
Everyday, he tried to chase and touch her. After 30 days, he reduced his weight considerably. On 31st day, he came with a determination to catch hold of her.
But to his surprise, he was asked to go to another room. This time,
they said that another fat lady would chase him and if she touches
him, she will marry him. This time, he had to run all the more...
4. My uncle was celebrating his 60th day celebration. Due to emotional prayers of the gathering, an angel appeared and granted a wish each to my uncle and aunt.
First, my aunt said that she had not visited any foreign country and hence, she wanted tickets to tour through out the world. The angel waved her kerchief and immediately my aunt's hands were filled with airline tickets.
Then my uncle said "My wife should become 30 years younger to me..."
The angel waved her kerchief on my uncle and immediately, he became 90 years old.
5. A man enters a barber shop for a shave. While the barber is foaming him up, he mentions the problems he has getting a close shave around the cheeks.
"I have just the thing," says the barber taking a small wooden ball
from a nearby drawer, "Just place this between your cheek and gum."
The client places the ball in his mouth and the barber proceeds with the closest shave the man has ever experienced. After a few strokes, the client asks in garbled speech, "And what if I swallow it?"
"No problem," says the barber. "Just bring it back tomorrow like everyone else does."
6. A mother was walking down the hall when she heard a humming sound coming from her daughters bedroom. When she opened the door she found her daughter Unclad on the bed with a Romance-Machine. "What are you doing?" she exclaimed. The daughter replied, "I'm 35 and still living at home with my parents and this is the closest I'll ever get to a husband."
Later that week the father was in the kitchen and heard a humming sound coming from the basement. When he went downstairs, he found his daughter Unclad on a sofa with her Romance-Machine. "What are doing?" he exclaimed. The daughter replied, "I'm 35 and still living at home with my parents and this is the closest I'll ever get to a husband."
A couple of days later the mother heard the humming sound again, this time in the living room. Upon entering the room she found her husband watching television with the Romance-Machine buzzing away beside him. "What are doing?" she asked. He replied, "Watching the game with my son-in-law."
7. A woman married and had 13 children. Her husband died. She married again and had 7 more children. Again, her Husband died.
But, she remarried and this time had 5 more children. She finally died after having 25 children.
Standing before her coffin, the preacher prayed for her. He thanked the Lord for this very loving woman and said, "Lord, they're finally together."
One mourner leaned over and quietly asked her friend, "Do you think he means her first, second or third husband?" The friend replied, "I think he means her legs."
